Traditional Chinese Medicine
Zazen is pleased to have Yutaka Toyoda as our Chinese Medicine practitioner. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of healing based on the idea that laws of nature can be used to understand the inner workings of the body. Your health, like the universe at large, is subject to constant battling between opposing forces such as heat and cold, male and female, joy and sadness, which manifest themselves in your body as too much or too little activity in particular organs. An imbalance between any of these forces can cause a blockage in the flow of your qi (chee) or vital energy traveling through your body along invisible pathways known as meridians.
Using different techniques such as moxibustion and sound therapy, conditions such as headache/migraine, insomnia, depression, menstrual pain, menopause and stress can be alleviated or healed. Consult with us before booking your appointment if you have questions about your condition and TCM. Through centuries of practice, TCM has become popular for everything from the common cold to realigning the energy flows in your body for health and wellness.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a 200 year old European system of medicine. It is the practice of pinpointing problems at their root through symptoms as opposed to putting a “band aid” on the symptom itself. It aims to aid and stimulate the body's own defense and immune processes. Homeopathic medicines are derived from a variety of plants, animal materials and minerals. These medicines are prescribed to fit each individual's needs, given in much smaller and less toxic doses than traditional medications, and are used for both prevention and treatment. This system offers holistic care for a range of physical and emotional ailments such as:
• Arthritis
• Skin conditions
• Indeterminate aches and pains
• Digestion
• Insomnia
• Chronic fatigue
• Fibromyalgia
• Menopause
• Menstrual problems
• Depression
• Anxiety and panic attacks
Orthotherapy
Orthotherapy is a deep tissue technique designed to restore balance in the body’s muscles and joints. Using deep medical massage, joint mobilization and postural reeducation, the therapist alleviates pain and stiffness in the muscle or joint. It seeks to align and straighten the body using massage and specialized techniques.
Orthotherapy also works towards dietary rehabilitation by addressing nutritional problems and restores nutritional balance while eliminating deficiencies. Posture is also addressed and therefore exercises are often proposed in order to accelerate the treatment’s efficacy. This is recommended for someone needing pain relief and relaxation, as well as problems with things like sciatica, headaches, minor vertebral disorders and neck and back pain.
